The Box

The Box, Plymouth

Customer: Plymouth City Council

Delt Service Area: Project Management, IT Services, Print & Mail, Procurement

The Box is Plymouth’s new Museum, Art Gallery and Archive, and is the largest Arts and Heritage space opening in the UK this year.
Delt has been engaged to design and deliver the IT required and have been working with Plymouth City Council’s team for 3 years in an IT programme of work worth over £1m. Many Delt staff and teams have been involved in delivering each of the different workstreams, and many more have been introduced in the past few months with our teams continuing to provide back-office support.

Why the customer chose Delt?

Delt have been the trusted IT provider for Plymouth City Council since our creation and have a thorough understanding of the organisation and its priorities. Delt have a strong presence in the city and can provide the ongoing support on site that the client requires.

What Delt did for the customer?

During the initial 2 years of the museum’s planning Delt provided IT Consultancy, advising on the high- level design and detailing IT requirements. Delt then worked hand in hand with PCC to choose the most appropriate solution. Some of these were delivered by Delt’s own teams – such as the Networking across the site for employees and guests.

For other solutions we performed market appraisals and identified the best partners to deliver more specialist solutions. We have identified market leading systems for Ticketing and Membership and EPOS, and commissioned Website developers to redesign their online presence. We have also worked with media archiving specialists to provide a new solution to manage the vast Digital Video and Photo archives.

Now that the solutions have been delivered, Delt will continue to provide 7 day a week support for the museum and work closely with the teams to continue to improve in years to come.
