Assistant Accountant
Salary: Up to £30,000 p.a. (DOE)
Location: Hybrid – Office and remote working, with occasional travel to customer sites across Plymouth

Job Purpose:
As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring resource managers receive the financial insights they need to make informed decisions. Working closely with the Finance Business Partner, you will contribute to monthly financial activities, reporting, and provide general financial support to one of our key clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly Financial Activities:
- Assist with month-end accruals, variance analysis, and KPI reporting.
- Support in preparing monthly management accounts.
- Perform cashflow forecasts and control account, bank, and payroll reconciliations.
- Process journals, corrections, and payment runs.
- Accounts Management:
- Manage sales invoicing, receipting, and credit control.
- Administer pupil funding contracts and allocate direct income.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Aid in setting budgets, forecasting, and participating in internal/external audits.
- Additional Duties:
- Conduct VAT126 claims, IRIS Purchasing administration, and fixed asset register maintenance.
- Provide cover for other team members as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:

- AAT Level 3 or 4 qualification with at least 2 years of relevant experience (Delt can offer support for ongoing AAT completion).
- Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences.
- Effective planning, prioritizing, and multitasking skills, with a keen ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
