Delt Expands Public Sector Reach with £60M North Somerset
Collaboration

14th August 2025, Plymouth, UK

Delt Shared Services has secured a landmark deal with North Somerset Council, its third shareholder and largest customer to date, marking a major milestone in the evolution of UK shared services. The 10-year deal, worth over £60 million, will bring 2,500 new users into Delt’s fold starting 1st October 2025. North Somerset Council will first transition its IT services to Delt, with other services to follow.

The partnership cements Delt’s status as a regional powerhouse in public sector delivery. Founded in 2014 by Plymouth City Council and NHS Devon, the South West-based company has grown from humble beginnings to supporting over 250 organisations across 400 sites.

“This is an exceptional moment in our journey. Over the past decade, we’ve built a rare kind of shared services model – one that delivers efficiency, ethics, and real impact. To welcome a new shareholder in our 10th year is practically
unheard of in our sector.

Our success goes beyond numbers. It’s about a community approach, where jobs, social value, and public investment are kept locally. The fact that we are here in 2025, talking about millions returned to our public sector partners, is a tribute to the foresight of those who set us up and to our incredible staff, most of whom live locally.”

Giles Letheren

Chief Executive Officer

Councillor Mike Bell, Leader and Cabinet Member for Corporate Services at North Somerset Council, commented: “We’re excited to be joining forces with Delt and delivering greater public sector value. Through this new partnership, we will use innovative technology solutions to deliver reliable services, streamline our IT operations and improve services for our officers and the community.”

Plymouth City Council and NHS Devon, renewed their commitment to the company with new 10-year contracts in 2024, reinforcing confidence in Delt’s future and shared service delivery model.

Ian Trisk-Grove, Director of Finance at Plymouth City Council, said: “We’re delighted welcome North Somerset Council to what is an innovative, forward thinking partnership with service delivery and transformation at its heart.”

Unlike many shared service models, Delt has bucked national trends, cutting costs while improving service delivery. Its hybrid model merges private sector agility with public sector ethics, all while staying deeply rooted in the community. Delt has returned over £5 million in dividends to its public sector shareholders, funds reinvested directly into local NHS services, schools, and care for the elderly. In addition, Delt contributes more than £20 million annually in social value through well-paid, high-tech jobs that might have otherwise disappeared from the region.

Certified as one of the UK’s Most Loved Workplaces and a Living Wage employer, Delt is now doubling down on its sustainability goals with plans for a net-zero data centre and full reliance on green energy.

“The more we grow, the more we give back. That’s the power of public sector collaboration, and it’s a win-win for our communities,”  Letheren concluded.
